Interactive Wireless Kiosks for Charity
Helping volunteers and not-for-profits
connect,
while collecting spare change for charity
Description
System of kiosks, with associated web site, designed to be placed in public
places such as subways, stores, and street corners. The machine dispenses
a bar code tag the first time a user donates, to simplify future contributions.
The user can then make contributions of spare change at any public "wishing
you well" kiosk, to any charity. Since the kiosk has a wireless Internet
connection, the donations can be tracked and a receipt for total contribution
provided at the end of the year, for tax purposes.
The system is completely accessible
to donors, volunteers, and charitable organizations from the web. People
can fill out an on-line form telling the system what their skills are,
and what types of volunteer work they might like to do. Not-for-profit
organizations who need volunteers input their needs on a daily or weekly
basis. When a user is at a public kiosk, they can quickly find out if
their services could be of use either near their home, or at some organization
close to the kiosk. The kiosk then prints directions and instructions,
and automatically notifies the charitable organization of the volunteers
availability.
