Intimate Internet Applications

Description
Artistic response to the peculiar phenomenon of online personal journals, live webcams, and those who read and watch them (far predating today's more sophisticated "blogs"). Actual Internet postings were edited to form a coherent dialogue, spoken by an early digital speech synthesizer. Soundtrack includes sampled modem sounds combined with Brian Eno's "Music for Airports."

All source Internet postings were made by Jennifer Ringley and her boyfriend Dax at Jennicam.org. Jennicam is arguably the oldest and most famous personal webcam site, dating back to April 1986. The two were responding publicly to a "net" outcry over their betrayal of Courtney, Dax's (then) finance, and Jenny's (then) best friend. This peculiar on-line real-life drama was broadcast live by webcam as it unfolded, and inspired numerous articles in Salon.com, and other well respected on-line magazines.  [Collaboration with Noah Hendler]
