Closed Eyes Telehaptic Communications research

Interactivity Consultants is testing how distantly separated couples may develop new forms of emotional communication, sitting still and quietly, with closed eyes; sharing co-imagined virtual spaces, via telehapic communications systems. Prototypes (below) may prove useful for astronauts enduring long periods of confined isolation—such as on future Mars missions. William Meyer of Interactivity Consultants presented his research "Immersive Virtual Reality as a Countermeasure for Dysphoria in Space and Expeditionary Environments" at the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) "Space 2003 Conference."
